Sixth meeting of the Negotiating Committee of the Regional Agreement will take place in Brasilia (20 to 24 March 2017)


The sixth meeting of the negotiating committee of the regional agreement will take place at Itamaraty Palace, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Brasilia, from 20 to 24 March 2017.

During the meeting, the countries will continue the substantive negotiation of the agreement on the basis of the fifth version of the compilation text prepared by the Presiding Officers that includes the language proposals sent by the countries.

Kindly note that the secretariat has provided a webpage for written contributions and statements that are sent prior and/or during the meeting. All input received will be uploaded to the webpage: http://negociacionp10.cepal.org. To send inputs, please e-mail: principio10.lac@cepal.org.

The meeting with start at 9am Brasilia time with parallel meetings of the contact groups on articles 6 and 7 (Access to environmental information) and article 8 (participation in environmental matters). The opening ceremony will take place at 2.30 pm Brasilia time.

Pannel: "Direitos de Acesso à Informação, à Participação e à Justiça em Meio Ambiente - Perspectivas de contribuição do acordo do Principio 10 para o Brasil", will be held in Brasilia on 15 March

Organized by Artigo 19, Imafora, WRI Brasil and Fundação Esquel, with the support of FBOMS and CGU, the panel will take place on 15 March 2017 from 9 to 12.30 pm at the Auditório da Escola Superior de Administração Fazendária – ESAF, Rodovia DF-001, km 27,4, SHIS, Lago Sul, Brasília, DF. Speakers include representatives of the Brazilian Ministries of Environment and Foreign Affairs and members of different social groups, as well as the public prosecutor of RS and Dr. Paulo Affonso Leme Machado, expert in environmental law.

O Painel "Direitos de Acesso à Informação, à Participação e à Justiça em Meio Ambiente - Perspectivas de contribuição do acordo do Principio 10 para o Brasil", organizado por Artigo 19, Imafora, WRI Brasil e Fundação Esquel, com apoio do FBOMS e CGU, ocorrerá no dia 15 de março de 2017, de 09:00 a 12:30 h, no Auditório da Escola Superior de Administração Fazendária – ESAF, Rodovia DF-001, km 27,4, SHIS, Lago Sul, Brasília, DF. Terá painelistas representando os Ministérios do Meio Ambiente e de Relações Exteriores e integrantes de grupos diversos da sociedade, além de procuradora de justiça do RS e o eminente Prof. Dr. Paulo Affonso Leme Machado, doutrinador em direito ambiental.

O Painel faz parte de conjunto de eventos apoiados pelo Ministério da Transparência, Fiscalização e Controladoria-Geral da União (CGU) como atividade prévia à 6a Sessão de Negociação Internacional de Instrumento Reegional da América Latina e Caribe para esses direitos de acesso, com base no Princípio 10 da Declaração do Rio de Janeiro sobre Meio Ambiente e o Desenvolvimento. A Sexta Sessão ocorreá em Brasília de 20 a 24 de março.
